At the School Improvement and data team meetings on December 21, 2010, the staff decided that we would like to challenge ourselves to focus more on Marzano's Instructional Strategies. These are strategies that have a high probability of enhancing student achievement for all students in all subject areas at all grade levels. Taken from the book Classroom Instruction That Works by Robert Marzano, there are nine categories of strategies that have a strong effect on student achievement. Each week, we will focus on one strategy
January 10 - 14: Identify similarities & differences
January 17 - 21: Summarizing and note taking
January 24 - 28: Reinforcing effort & providing recognition
January 31 - February 4: review identify similarities & differences
February 7 - 11: Homework & practice
February 14 - 18: Nonlinguistic representation
February 21 - 25: Cooperative learning
Feb. 28 - March 4: review any of the instructional strategies
March 7 - 11: Setting objectives & providing feedback
March 14 - 18: Generating and testing hypotheses
March 21 - 25: Questions, cues, and advanced organizers
March 28 - April 1: review using any of the instructional strategies
