Buddy Walk

This is Rylee ~ a student at Fred Assam Elementary! Her billboard appears at the entrance to Walmart East on Foss Ave.

Buddy Walk - please mark your calendars. I am promoting this as an Act of Kindness and would like to encourage as many families from our Fred Assam Elementary School family to participate. If you are able to walk with us, wear a FAE or BV t-shirt so we can be identified during the event.
About Buddy Walk - created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month and promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2010 worldwide.
Walk day schedule: Registration ~ 10:00 at Sertoma Park; Walk ~ 11:00, the one mile walk begins and ends at Sertoma Park. Strollers and wagons are welcome! Food and entertainment ~ 10:00 - 1:00!
If you are unable to join us at the Buddy Walk but would like to make a donation - simply send your donation to the Fred Assam Elementary office and we will turn it over to New Directions (Sioux Falls area Down Syndrome Association).
More information regarding the Buddy Walk and how you can participate will be sent home with all students from Fred Assam Elementary School. If you have any questions regarding the Buddy Walk ~ please call our office at 582-1500.

Fred Assam Elementary School 2010 - 2011

Welcome to a new school year! We ended last year at 252 students and started this school year with 296 students! I anticipate that we will continue to grow during the school year as well.
We have added a Junior Kindergarten class and an additional 1st grade class to our school family. Mrs. Ashley Teunissen and Mrs. Jennifer Assam-Peterson spend their afternoons in the Junior Kindergarten classroom. Mrs. Heidi Meier joins the 1st grade staff.
If you have any questions or concerns during the school year, please do not hesitate to call, e-mail, or stop in for a visit. My door is always open. Together ~ we will become great learning partners with your child!
