Honors Choir

What an awesome experience for these three Fred Assam Elementary students and other students from the Brandon Valley School District! 195 students from numerous schools across South Dakota auditioned and participated in the Elementary Honors Choir.
The students tell me it was a wonderful experience! Emily, Courtney, and Alex were a part of that experience. The students practiced all day and gave their performance late in the afternoon. Many parents, grandparents, teachers, and - principal - were there to listen to the beautiful voices. Their performance was held in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of SDSU.

Congratulations, Allison!

When it comes to math, she's a wiz! Allison passed all 154 objectives in the 4th grade Accelerated Math program. That's quite an accomplishment! We are all very proud of Allison. She will now start working on the 5th grade math objectives.

Honors Choir

Emily, Alex, and Courtney - along with other Brandon Valley students - will travel to Brookings on Thursday, February 10 to perform in the Honors Choir. The performance begins at 4:45pm.

The Polar Plunge lived up to its name! The water in the dumpster was frigid and the air temperature was about 20 degrees with light snow falling. Representing Fred Assam Elementary School ~ Mr. Woodle, Mr. Peters, Mrs. Leenderts, & Ms. Foster. We were dressed in our 80's clothing along with many other "plungers" from the other Brandon Valley schools. 93 jumpers plunged into the water that day ~ raising over $22,000 for Special Olympics.

Penny Wars for Special Olympics

I had no idea what a Penny War was ~ but the staff & students sure did! With a little fun competition, over $1800 came in to support Special Olympics! As students planned their strategies and plotted against other grade levels, it was 5th grade that came out on top by Friday's end. Congratulations to all of the Fred Assam Elementary students & staff for their donations and excitement! The entire week was filled with fun!
